Mark Steffen has designed and built his own rods since 1980. Like many of us, Mark started off fly fishing with a fiberglass Eagle Claw rod. He wore the guides off the rod and wrapped on a new set. Then he built a few rods from raw blanks. But instead of tirelessly searching for the perfect blank, Mark decided to make his own! Over 25 years later, Mark is still making rods from S-glass, high modulus graphite, and low modulus graphite. Steffen Brothers rods are slightly quick for fiberglass and very pleasant to cast.
The following information appears on the Steffen Brothers website "The VAST majority of rod companies have given way to manufacturing 100% of their rods from graphite fiber eliminating glass altogether. Here at Steffen we offer a selection of fly rods made with a new generation of S-Glass (12 million modulus) which is stronger, lighter and extremely durable. For a nice medium-slow action, shorter rod and light lines our S-Glass Fly Rods are a perfect choice. These are beautifully built and a superb fishing tool. We love these rods!"
Mark offers the following glass rods. Note: some of these models are not yet listed on the official website. In addition, Mark will make any of these rods to inbetween lengths (such as 6'9", 7'3", 7'9", 8'3").

Double Trivia:
Dennis Franke of Glastech fly rods, asked Mark to roll the blanks for him.
Why is the company named Steffen Brothers when we only hear about Mark? His brother Tim, is his quiet partner. Tim helps when he's not working his day job as a firefighter/paramedic.
